At PepsiCo from 1984 to 1996, serving in a variety of marketing roles, I helped revitalize Frito-Lay's flagship brand, Fritos, and led the successful development and launch of numerous new snacks – many of which exceeded $100 million in revenues their first year. I co-developed Pepsi Cola International's first total refreshment beverage strategy, and helped launch several new beverage categories spanning 150 global markets. I created positionings, marketing initiatives and business development programs for Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, 7UP and Diet 7UP.

At Time Warner from 1996 to 1999, as SVP of Global Strategy for Cartoon Network's brand group, I worked in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Studio Stores, Home Video, Music, Publishing & Interactive, D.C. Comics and 6 Flags Theme Parks, to develop Cartoon Network and its 2000+ animated character properties into an integrated portfolio of brands, and launch them in over 145 countries. The brand group became profitable four years ahead of schedule.

In 2000 I moved to Seattle to write a murder mystery and started Fernow Consulting. In 2007 I joined my client Nordstrom fulltime, to help them launch their first Consumer Insights group. In 2009 I returned to private practice, to focus on innovation.

I received an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University in 1984, and a BA in English and Theatre from Cornell University in 1979.
